TEACHING STAFF
Steve Busch teaches physical
education for the Chenango Forks School District and teaches BOP kayak
and canoe courses. He is an accomplished paddler with American Canoe Association
certification and a dedication to teach other the sport. His enthusiasm
and passion for white water kayaking have made the BOP kayak courses an
exciting success.
Bob Fairbrother, a
retired IBM employee, has spent a great part of his life fly fishing,
fly tying and rod building. Bob recently maintained a fishing column,
"Reel Time," for The Sportsman Report, a monthly publication
for outdoors enthusiasts. A member of the Delaware Valley Fishing Club,
he has fished many of the major eastern and western rivers.
Rich Fairbrother is
an engineer at Lockheed Martin and an adjunct fly fishing instructor.
Having fly-fished such famed waters as the Bighorn River, Nelson's Spring
Creek, the Madison River, and the Ausable River in the Adirondacks he
spends much of his time on the waters closer to home like the Delaware
and Beaverkill Rivers, along with many of the lesser known tributaries.
Rich has spent 10 years involved with the leadership, education and conservation
efforts of the Al Hazzard chapter of Trout Unlimited. Additionally, he
is the by-product of Bob Fairbrother's successful fly-fishing teaching
philosophy and methodologies.
John Greene joined the BOP staff during the
Fall 04 semester to teach the Hiking course. To call John a rabid hiker
would be an understatement. He has climbed the 46 Adirondack High Peaks
more than once in addition to the highest mountains of the Catskills!
When not climbing mountains in the Northeast, look for him behind the
counter at the EMS store in Ithaca.
Josh Teeter is an BU alumni who has brought his love of wilderness survival skills back to share with our students. Josh has been teaching the hiking and backpacking classes as well as doing non-credit workshops for BOP. When not spending weekends with BOP, Josh is working on his Masters in Recreation at SUNY Cortland.
Victor Lamoureux is back to share is passion in nature photography! He is a teacher, naturalist, experienced field trip leader, Ph.D biologist and rabid amateur photographer along with being a BU alumni. His photography has been published and has won awards in local and national contests. Vic uses both film and digital Canon equipment.

DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS
Augie Mueller, retired
professor of biology and faculty master for Newing College, continues
to pursue his quest for adventure through the Outdoor Pursuits program.
Augie volunteers his leadership for bicycling trips, hikes, and cross
country ski activities. He also lends his expertise to Saturday-morning
pancakes.

to give the paddling program a try!

country skier and biker. Julian is a hearty year-round daily bicycle commuter
on his three-speed! Look for more of his good work with the Friends of
the Nature Preserve trail crew.
Rick Shumaker is a rabid canoeist as well as
a kayaking enthusiast. He enjoys spending time taking in the natural beauty
of the waterways of New York and Pennsylvania. On campus you can find
Rick in Computing Services when he is not volunteering with the paddlers.
Kevin Wright, professor of human development,
is also a steady kayaking volunteer in the BOP program.
Donna Lahti, recently
retired chair of HPE, developed the Binghamton Outdoor Pursuits program
in 1992 as a result of her sabbatical and directed the program for seven

birds around the country or possibly at home in the Upper Penisula of
Michigan
